Chainsaws, wood chippers, lawn mowers, power saws and power drills—stuff all found in a construction storage room together with other Milwaukee power tools kits. But what other common idea comes to your mind seeing these tools together? Somewhere, somehow, you have seen it in one of the most talked about (and maybe some might even be your favorite) gore flicks.
These power tools are commonly used in the construction of houses, cars, furniture and what have you. But as oppose to how purposefully they created these useful machinery, they could be used dramatically and artistically in a very emotional and breath-taking scenes.
This is the reason why power tools had ruled out the world of Horror movies.

- Lawn mower. Lawn mowers are typically used in trimming the garden grass, but what if its sharp blades set were set upward in waiting for someone’s body to fall from above? SAW 3D successfully set the intensity and horro to its viewers when couple Sydney and Alex, were placed in a trap where someone needs to be knocked off for the other to be set free. SPOILER ALERT: the abusive boyfriend gets what’s coming to him.
- Power Saw. This kind of saw is commonly used to cut materials (commonly trees and wood) in a circular motion. But, with SAW III (2006), it becomes the ultimate game-over statement. SPOILER ALERT: after Jeff has killed John by cutting his throat with a power saw, he was not able to win the test and failed to save Lyn. As John dies, Jeff remained inside the sickroom with the three corpses. You may watch the heart-breaking scene below.
- Power Drill. The power drill is used in making holes in pieces of wood or around the walls of a house. And it will surely be head-breaking painful when put towards someone’s head. The 1979 film Driller Killer shows a psychopath murderer using a power drill to kill his victims. For a mindlessly bloody experience, Hostel’s (2005) “accident” is nicely gruesome.
- Wood chipper. This is a power tool used in turning tree trunks into smaller pieces of wood. While being commonly used to cut woods in smaller pieces, 2010 film Tucker and Dale vs. Evil makes its viewers’ heart rate faster than ever.
- Chainsaw. This is a kind of tool that is really dangerous for the users. It easily cut woods and flesh, and obviously in a horrifying scene in the film Texas Chainsaw Massacre series.
